About Toolkits

On the 17th of August some of the kids at Hay Park School got picked to go to toolkits. Toolkits is where you learn lots of new stuff and information. Where we went for it was New Windsor School. Ms Fortes was a teacher from Hay Park and she was the one who was taking us. But, unfortunately she couldn't fit all of us in her car. So some kids went in Ms Campbell's car and Aiseas mums van. When we got to New Windsor School we walked all the way to the hall before you we went in the hall there were a table and there were a list of our name. They had to highlight our names on the list and then give us our own badges with our sessions on it.

Henderson Class Has Chicks!

On the 14th of August in Henderson class a lady came in and her name was Jo. She was apart of a company called Living Eggs. The reason why she came in our class was because she came to give us some eggs. She gave us the eggs because there were baby chicks in them! Jo explained to us that there is a incubator and a brooder. First of all a incubator is where the eggs stay in when they hatch. Inside the incubator it is warm. It is warm because the chicks need to be warm and get dry when they hatch. The brooder is a blue box and when the chicks hatch out of their eggs after a while some of the chicks will be able to go in there. Jo also said that there is a water bell and a little bowl for them. Of course the bowl is for them to eat their food and if you didn't know a water bell is something they drink out of. So what you need to do is you need to fill up the water bell but don't over fill it then you just put the lid on the water bell turn it upside down and put it in their brooder. But actually Jo said before you do that set up the brooder. Put some news paper in it and lay it down , put a light bulb in it so they keep warm, put wood shavings in it on the other side of the news paper then set up their food and water. So what Jo basically did was she told us what to do to keep our eggs safe. Or our chicks safe when they hatch out of their eggs.
